I made the shopping rounds yesterday.

After effectively cleaning out the fridge before leaving town last weekend, we were down to the bare essentials. Since I’m a grocery store snob and like certain things from certain places, I had to visit three stores – The big box, bulk store for meat, nuts and fruit. The local grocery store for produce, more meat and dairy. And, the organic yuppy store for specialty items, more produce and more meat.

I’m not sure how it happened, but soup has become one of my favorite things to make.
You may have noticed…

It’s certainly not something from childhood. Soup at our house consisted of Campbell’s chunky chicken noodle or tomato. Occasionally a homemade turkey soup after Thanksgiving or Christmas. That was pretty much it though.

I’ve had a rash of yuck lately.

It started with a feeling of impending yuck.
Then there was the major, my-world-is-exploding yuck.
Then there was Jamaica–not yuck.
But, the coming back from Jamaica was super yuck (a little post-vacation depression?).
And then there was a minor yuck which felt like a major yuck because of all the other yuck.

Do you do that? Once you fall into a great big vat of yuck, everything other instance feels ten times as yuck as it should? That was my yesterday.
