We’ve had melons coming out of our ears this Summer. What’s funny is that we didn’t even try.

It started with a few mysterious volunteers from our compost. After doing a bit of research, we became convinced our new plants were cucumbers. After a few weeks, one of our cucumbers began to fruit. We grew increasingly excited as we watched its progress. But, we began to notice something strange. Our cucumber was growing wide instead of long. In fact, it was quite round. After about a week, our cucumber began to develop a texture. That was when we realized our cucumbers were really cantaloupes.
