Did you know New Orleans has an official cocktail?
Seriously. Legislators actually sat down and debated (more than once) whether or not the Sazerac should be labeled the town’s official cocktail.

Andrew and I became Sazerac fans after our trip to New Orleans last March. Everywhere you go in NOLA, from fanciest restaurant to scuzziest dive bar, the bartenders know how to make a pretty fabulous Sazerac.

It didn’t hurt that cocktail bars started opening here in Austin. Some that are so-so. Some that are kitsch. Some that are fantastic. And, some that are absolutely stellar.

You could serve them with a nice red. A beaujolais perhaps?

But, why not opt for something just as intricate and elegant as the rest of your Thanksgiving menu?

This variation of the Manhattan is the perfect Fall drink. It’s spicy, sweet and bold. Kind of like your Grandma’s pecan pie. Only, this will put a few hairs on your chest.
